SARATOGA SPRINGS -- As Ballston Spa goalkeeper Evan Mendez charged from the net, Saratoga's Noah Cadet split the defense.
Cadet took advantage of the opening, firing in the game-winning goal in the fifth minute of the first overtime to send the Blue Streaks to the semifinals of the Class AA Section II Boys Soccer Tournament with a 2-1 win over Ballston Spa on Monday.
The Blue Streaks took an early lead in the first half when Will Johns collected a free kick from the corner by Cadet and found the back of the net in the 39th minute. The Scotties tied the game in the 46th minute of the second half.
Aaron Costello made two saves in goal for Saratoga, while the back line of Caz Rafalik, Eli Sterngass, Tom Rodems, Isaac Handley-Miner, and Johns worked together to hold Ballston Spa to just one goal.
