WAPPINGERS FALLS -- The Saratoga Springs girls cross country team, running as Kinetic Running Club, qualified for the Nike Cross Nationals on Saturday by finishing second in the New York Regional at Bowdoin Park.
The team from Fayetteville-Manlius won with 43 points, with Saratoga placing second with 57 points. The top two teams automatically qualify for the Nike Cross Nationals on Dec. 3 at Portland Meadows Racetrack in Portland, Ore.
Taylor Driscoll led Saratoga with a 10th-place finish, covering the 3.1 miles in 18 minutes, 54.2 seconds. Keelin Hollowood and Estela Smith were 13th and 14th, both in 19:06.4. Olivia Morrow (18th, 19:16.2) and Tara Peck (23rd, 19:30.8) rounded out Saratoga's scorers.
The girls' team from Greenwich had a strong showing, placing sixth out of 17 teams with 219 points, just behind Holy Names (206) and in front of Burnt Hills (220). Madeline Montague led Greenwich with a 15th place in 19:11.6. Vicky Houser was 20th in 19:20.4.
The girls from Queensbury placed 14th with 332 points. Jolie Navatka led them with her 36th-place finish in 19:50.3.
Individually, Granville's Alicia Clark was 11th in 19:00.3.
In the boys' race, the teams from Shaker and Fayetteville-Manlius qualified for the nationals, while Greenwich's Austin Lane was the top local finisher in 28th with a time of 16:52.8.
