SYRACUSE -- The Adirondack Phantoms' offense bounced back in a big way Saturday night in a 5-2 victory over Syracuse before a crowd of 5,222 at the Onondaga County War Memorial.

Coming off a stretch in which they scored just three even-strength goals in their last six games, the Phantoms had four on Saturday. Five Phantoms scored.

Blake Kessel scored his first pro goal. Jon Kalinski, Ben Holmstrom, Eric Wellwood and Jason Akeson also tallied for the Phantoms.

Adirondack (9-5-0-1) came into the game averaging a near league-bottom 26 shots per game. They outshot Syracuse 42-27 in this one.

Jason Bacashihua made 25 saves to earn his second straight victory.

The Phantoms led 3-2 after two periods and put it away with the third-period goals from Akeson and Kessel.

Pat Maroon, coming off a big game against the Phantoms at the Civic Center last week, scored for Syracuse.

After a slow offensive start to the season, Holmstrom has goals in three of his last four games. He scored early in the second to break a tie at 1. Eric Wellwood's goal in that period, his fifth, gave the Phantoms a 3-2 lead they'd keep.

The Phantoms were 0 for 5 on the power play.

Loose pucks: Kevin Marshall and Luke Pither were scratched, along with the injured Johan Backlund.
