BINGHAMTON -- Binghamton scored quick back-to-back in each of the first two periods Friday night to earn a 5-2 victory over the Adirondack Phantoms.

Adirondack’s Shane Couturier opened the scoring 1:24 into the game on a backhander past Binghamton goalie Ben Bishop. However, a few minutes later, the Senators got goals from Derek Grant and Tyler Eckford 27 seconds apart for a 2-1 lead.

Ben Holmstrom pulled the Phantoms even at 2-2 off a rebound of a shot by Brayden Schenn 9:19 into the second period. But again, Binghamton responded with a pair of goals about a minute later, this time 57 seconds apart by Pat Cannone and Mika Zibanejad. Mark Stone scored an empty-netter late in the third period to complete the scoring.

Scott Munroe finished the game with 34 saves for Adirondack (6-7-0-0), which plays Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Syracuse.
