Adirondack Thunder

READING, Pa. — In the penultimate contest of their 12-game road trip, the Adirondack Thunder were unable to duplicate their recent success in the first of a three-game set with Reading.

After six wins in 10 games, the Thunder dropped a 5-2 loss to the Royals on Tuesday night. Pierre-Luc Mercier and Ty Loney scored for Adirondack, each goal tying the score early on, but the Royals pulled away.

Loney’s goal was his 12th of the season, giving him eight goals in his last nine games. Shane Conacher had an assist for his sixth consecutive game with a point. Nick Riopel made 40 saves in the loss.

Despite the loss, the Thunder (9-6-1-1) are still tied with Wheeling for first place in the North Division with 20 points.

Adirondack gets a rematch with fourth-place Reading (8-5-1-0) on Friday at 7 p.m. at Santander Arena, before returning home for a third game against the Royals, set for Saturday at 7 p.m. at Cool Insuring Arena.
