Adirondack Thunder

MOLINE, ILL. — The Adirondack Thunder spread the scoring wealth Wednesday in a 4-1 win over the Quad City Mallards in ECHL action.

Four players scored goals, and only James Henry had more than one point, as he also got the first assist on Eric Neiley’s first-period goal before scoring the final goal of the game with 9 seconds left shorthanded into an empty net.

The Thunder (5-4-1-0) opened the scoring 6:56 into the game on Terrence Wallin’s fourth goal of the season, a rebound off Quad City goalie Ivan Kulbakov.

Neiley scored his fifth goal of the season near the end of the first period when he finished a one-touch pass from Henry. Pierre-Luc Mercier got the second assist, his team-high eighth of the season.

Quad City narrowed the gap to 2-1 in the second period by scoring the first shorthanded goal against the Thunder this season.

Ty Loney responded, however, with his team-high sixth goal of the season by collecting the puck in the slot off a Kevin Lough shot that had been blocked.

The defense limited the Mallards’ opportunities, allowing just 23 shots on goal, 22 of which Nick Riopel stopped.

The Thunder play at Kalamazoo on Friday.
