TROY — The third time proved to be charm for the Argyle girls basketball team, as the Scots got 27 points from tournament MVP Sam Humiston in a 49-40 Class D championship victory over Hartford.

It was the first Section II championship since 2012 for Argyle, which had come up short the last two seasons. Humiston was named Class D Most Valuable Player after the game.

The Scots (19-4) advance to play Section VII champion Moriah in a state regional final next Saturday at noon at Plattsburgh State.

The top-seeded Scots held all of Hartford's scorers to seven or fewer points. The No. 3-seeded Tanagers saw their season end at 14-9.
