Argyle senior Kobe Lufkin was named the Class D Co-Player of the Year on the New York State Sportswriters All-State Basketball Team Wednesday.
Lufkin, a 5-foot-11 guard, averaged 33.8 points per game for the Scots, helping them to defend their Section II Class D championship. During the course of the season, he became Section II's all-time leading scorer with 2,678 points.
"They're all great honors," said Lufkin, who has narrowed his college choice to either Utica College or Oneonta State. "Being MVP of the state is definitely something to be proud of."
Junior Dylan Trombley of state champion Moriah shared the honor with Lufkin.
Glens Falls sophomore guard Joseph Girard III and Fort Ann senior forward Tyler Mattison made the first team of Class B and Class D, respectively. Girard averaged a Section II-best 36.4 points per game and now has 2,157 career points in three seasons. Mattison averaged 26.8 points and 13.4 rebounds per game.
Also in Class B, Glens Falls senior Tony Green made the 12th team.
In Class C, Stillwater senior Jared D'Aloia made the second team, while Lake George junior Caleb Scrime made the third team. Others honored were Granville's Matt Fuller (fourth team), Saratoga Catholic's Connor Farrington (fifth team), Ticonderoga's Evan Graney (sixth team), Lake George's Mason Flatley and Alex Jones (honorable mention) and Stillwater's Zack Travis (honorable mention).
In Class D, Whitehall junior Evan St. Claire made the sixth team, Fort Ann senior Jeremy Johnson made the seventh team and Fort Edward senior Austin Young made honorable mention.
