Hamel pulled Adirondack (15-29-2-3) into a 4-all tie at the 15:43 mark of the second period, after the Crunch rallied from a 3-1 deficit with three straight goals.

Johan Backlund finished with 34 saves as he earned his sixth win.

Just more than three minutes later, Hamel scored on assists from Danny Syvret and Backlund to bring the Phantoms even, setting the stage for Ryan's go-ahead goal midway through the third.

Syracuse goalies Timo Pielmeier and Jean-Philippe Levasseur combined for 27 saves.
