NORFOLK, Va. -- The Adirondack Phantoms scored first, but couldn't hold the lead in a 3-1 loss to the Norfolk Admirals in front of a crowd of 4,631 at Norfolk Scope Arena on Saturday.

Alex Barry scored twice for the Admirals (9-4-3-1), who evened the season series against the Phantoms 1-1. The Phantoms beat Norfolk last Friday to snap a 10-game losing streak.

The Phantoms (3-14-2-0) went 0-2-1 on their southern road swing. They've lost 14 of 15 games.

David Laliberte opened the scoring 8:05 into the game, breaking an oh-for-the-road-trip scoreless streak on the power play. Eric Wellwood and Denis Hamel had the assists.

The first of Alex Berry's two goals came with 54 seconds left in the first. He scored the eventual game-winner with 1:51 remaining in the second period, breaking away and putting a move on Nic Riopel to score.

Former Albany River Rat Mike Angelidis added a goal early in the third.

Riopel, making his second start of the season, stopped 28 of 31 shots.

Hamel was awarded a penalty shot in the third period, but Dustin Tokarski came up with the save.

The Phantoms lost Stefan Legein to an injury in the third as he left the bench after a big hit and didn't return.

Loose pucks: According to reports in Springfield, Mass., the Flyers signed forward Michael Ryan for the Phantoms on Friday. Ryan, 30, had one goal and three assists in six games for the Springfield Falcons this season. He's played 83 games in the NHL and has twice scored more than 25 goals in the AHL. He was not in uniform Saturday... J.P. Testwuide, Logan Stephenson and Luke Pither were healthy scratches.
