GLENS FALLS -- Greg Moore stood outside the Phantoms' locker room after the game and autographed a broken stick for a young boy.

The kid found the right guy on this night.

Moore scored the Phantoms' lone goal in regulation and got the game-winner in the sixth round of a shootout to give Adirondack a 2-1 win over Worcester before a crowd of 3,831 at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

The win snapped a four-game losing skid and ended the Phantoms' dreadful mark of six straight shootout losses. They lost all three games last weekend in shootouts.

"We actually practiced shootouts quite a bit in practice this week," Moore said. "So hopefully that made a little bit of a difference."

Michael Leighton made a difference as well. Leighton stopped 38 of 39 shots, including 17 of 18 in the second period. He allowed just one goal in the shootout.

"He was phenomenal," Moore said. "Especially that pad save in the first when he got across the crease. He's been strong for us since he got here."

Last weekend, the Phantoms lost leads in all three games. This one could have gone down the same road.

Adirondack went ahead 1-0 1:59 into the second period on Moore's seventh goal of the season, which came in unusual fashion.

It seemed to fool Worcester goaltender Daren Machesney, who stopped 36 shots in an otherwise stellar effort.

"I was trying to make a saucer pass to (Danny Syvret), who was driving the net, and when he came down it hit a bump on the ice and just popped enough to go over his pad and under his arm," Moore said. "Kind of a lucky bounce."

Worcester tied it at 1 at 17:32 of the second period on Jamie McGinn's re-direction on the power play.

But unlike last week, it wasn't a fatal blow.

Eric Wellwood scored in the fourth round of the shootout to even it at 1 and give Moore a chance to win it two rounds later.

"It's a great extra point for our team, especially going through the three (shootout losses) in a row. Hopefully that will make us a little more relaxed," Adirondack coach Joe Paterson said.
