Oneonta State junior Devin Akerley (Corinth) has started his cross country season with two victories. He won the Wildcat Invitational in Utica on Sept. 2, running 6 kilometers in 19 minutes, 32 seconds, four seconds off his personal best for that distance.
He followed that with a 5K-personal-best time of 15:27 at the Hamilton College Short Course Invitational on Sept. 9. His teammate, sophomore Matthew Palmer (Schuylerville) was seventh (19:44) at the Wildcat Invy and 12th (15:47, a personal best) at Hamilton.
Plattsburgh State junior Matt Jenkins (South Glens Falls) was 10th at the Kinetic Running Cardinal Classic at Plattsburgh on Sept. 2. He covered the 5k course in 16:21.8. He followed that with a 14th at the Pre-SUNYAC Championships on Sept. 9 in Norwood, finishing in 16:50.4.
Also running at the Cardinal Classic and Pre-SUNYACs were the Clarkson women. Sophomore Erika Abrantes (Lake George) was 15th at Plattsburgh in 20:26.5 and 21st at Norwood in 21:13.2. Junior teammate Katie Ackner (Queensbury) was 17th at Plattsburgh in 20:30.4 and 22nd at Norwood in 21:23.8.
St. Lawrence senior Megan Kellogg (Queensbury) was second overall at Norwood, finishing in 19:00.2.
SUNY Canton freshman Adeline Wagner (Glens Falls) was 47th (33:19) at the Southern Vermont College Invitational on Sept. 2, and 56th (30:41) at the Castleton Invitational on Sept. 9.
Utica College freshman forward Sabrina Whitehouse (Greenwich) has one goal and one assist through four games. Her older sister and teammate Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich) has started all four games in goal and made 28 saves. She has a 1.19 goals against average and a .848 save percentage.
St. Lawrence senior forward Tori Shaffer (Saratoga) leads the Saints through four games with three goals.
William Smith junior defender Samantha Petruzzo (Saratoga) has started the first four games for the Herons and has recorded one assist.
St. Lawrence sophomore middle hitter Amanda Teppo (Queensbury) has scored 64 points, made 45 kills and 28 blocks for the Saints (7-1).
SUNY Canton junior Jennifer Morgan-Aubin (Hartford) has eight points and four digs in the Kangaroos’ first six matches.
Hudson Valley Community College freshman middle hitter Jessica Getty (Hartford) has 27 kills, 12 blocks and 45 points — all team highs — for the 0-4 Vikings.
Paul Smith’s College sophomore libero Paige Farrington (Lake George) leads the Bobcats in assists with 45 through their first three matches. She also has 12 digs and has scored 10 points.
Clarkson sophomore goalkeeper Elyse Green (South Glens Falls) has 19 saves through the Golden Knights’ first four games. She also has a 0.95 goals against average and an .826 save percentage.
Potsdam State junior forward Olivia Seamans (Bolton) has one goal and one assist in the Bears’ first five games. Teammates Brennan Bruschini (South Glens Falls) and Samantha Hubinsky (South Glens Falls) have one goal and one assist, respectively.
Hudson Valley Community College sophomore forward Susannah Frisch (Cambridge) scored her first goal of the season in a 3-2 win over Holyoke on Sept. 7.
Union College sophomore safety Joe Vanderhoof (Schuylerville) has seven tackles (three solo, four assisted) through two games for the Dutchmen.
Hobart freshman running back Dakota Harvey (Saratoga) has 18 carries for 90 yards and two touchdowns for the 1-1 Statesmen.
Potsdam State sophomore Teddy Bruschini (South Glens Falls) has two goals and one assist through the Bears’ first five games.
RIT senior goalkeeper Patrick O’Mara (Queensbury) played more than 35 minutes in the Tigers’ 6-1 win over Keuka on Sept. 7. He allowed one goal.
