Editor:

This past evening, the U.S. Senate with the Republican majority adopted a new tax bill which in essence has been touted will ensure a financial recovery for our nation.

The rationale by the Republican majority, aside from the Trump Enterprises tax reduction, was the reduction in the corporate tax to 21 percent, which will encourage the many former domestic corporations to return to our shores and as a consequence will build their plants here and open the door for the hiring of thousands of our citizens. I agree wholeheartedly with their intentions, but with several cautions!

Obviously, the Senate has no control over what these foreign nations may do to counter the tax reduction, and are our corporations so patriotic as to construct new plants and be willing to pay a livable wage to our citizens in lieu of the substandard wages paid to their foreign workers? I think not!

Frankly, if Congress wants to make “America great again,” as a start, let’s rebuild our infrastructure as our bridges and roads. This will guarantee that the corporations and the necessary labor will be “American made by Americans.”
