Several weeks ago, I arrived at the Glens Falls Hospital Emergency Room at about 3 a.m. with a severe pain. There was no one else in the waiting room, but still I had to wait an hour. After that, it was half an hour before a physician arrived in the room where I was waiting. His five minute examination revealed that he did not have a clue about the pain, could give me nothing to alleviate it, and sent me on my way. For this five minute consultation, the charge was $800. Last fall I had a blood test at the hospital. The cost: Over $900. My prescription drug for cholesterol medication has doubled over night. My Spectrum bill has increased every month since that corporation took over from Time Warner. I also note that food prices have risen.
Mr. Trump, to please the business community of which he is a part, has systematically canceled as many regulations on business as possible. He fails to see, or doesn’t care, that regulations are there to protect the public. With regulations eliminated, these protections no longer protect. Observing what is happening to pharmaceutical costs indicates to me that greed has taken over. That pharmaceutical lobbyists buy the support of a number of congressmen adds to the problem. Question: What good is the so-called tax break for the middle class if prices skyrocket and only the super rich benefit? Please remember this when you go to the polls to vote.
