Having alienated several friends by my last letter on guns, how much more can I do by continuing to spew my hatred for guns? I have to wonder what goes through their minds when they think of this latest horror inflicted on not just hundreds of victims but thousands when you consider all of their friends and relations. Are we still thinking it's just the “bad guys” we have to worry about? The answer is an emphatic no! We have to worry about everybody in possession of a gun.

The thinking is this is the worst mass murder ever in America. No it isn't. Every murder is the worst. Guns are a sickness. Whatever the excuse for having one, they are designed for one thing and one thing only — to kill. For those who have them for protection, just look at what happened the other night. All the guns in the world on your person would have been useless, impossible to stop such well-planned carnage. And please, can someone explain to me in simple, plain English why anybody other than the military or police needs an automatic weapon? Do you need a machine gun to kill a deer, or for target practice? Ugh! As I'm writing, the TV is announcing a Ballston Spa High School closing because of a found weapon. Good Lord!

I thought the best idea is to just deep six the Second Amendment and then we won't have to worry about the Hurons or Algonquins anymore. But I have an even better idea. Keep all the guns; let's just implode all munitions factories. Then people can strut in their Sunday best with all the Glocks and AK-47s they want adorning themselves. Good Lord, please put an end to it.
