It was very heartwarming on Sunday night last to see the smiling people leaving the show that Kenny Rogers put on at the Cool Insuring Arena, formerly the Glens Falls Civic Center, a facility that we have available for such shows. The smiles were just very enthusiastic and gave me a great feeling of belonging to this community and enjoying the benefits that we do here.

There, of course, was a time when people wanted to tear down that facility and make a parking lot out of it, but now that we have taken hold and moved forward, it is a wonderful facility for the benefit of the community, and certainly with the hockey team, that’s an added attraction that maintains the facility for at least 38 nights a year and supports many of the businesses in the community.

I am so proud to be a member of this community after moving here from Long Island in 1960 and being fortunate enough to see Glens Falls grow from what it was at that point in time to where it is now.

Hopefully people are understanding that they live in a great area and that facility adds so much to the life of the community.
