Bravos to Battenkill Railroad officials for finally deciding to raise the Route 372 overpass in Greenwich to avoid further truck accidents. Tractor-trailer trucks that are too tall have regularly collided with the bridge, often backing up traffic for hours. The overpass is currently 11 feet, 6 inches. It will be raised to 14 feet. Fixing the problem is long overdue.
This December 2012 accident was one of many that took place at the railroad bridge in Greenwich. The truck was carrying rolls of paper, and it took more than 60 hours to empty it and clear the road.
