Want to help build the regional visitors center in Schuylerville?
The Timber Framers Guild is building the Champlain Canal Region Gateway Visitors Center, and locals can join them for free, the guild announced. They should email the guild at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The guild is offering a complimentary six-month digital membership for volunteers when they sign up to work on the project.
The first phase will be Aug. 8 to Aug. 12. The second phase, which includes a hand-raising similar to a barn raising, will be Sept. 5 to Sept. 15.
The building design incorporates elements of Dutch barns and will be the first stop for many tourists visiting the area. It will provide information about historical sites as well as other tourist activities.

Ride your bike
It’s a challenge that’s good for your well-being.
Warren County’s Safe & Quality Bicycling Organization wants local bicyclists to take the “Cycling Challenge,” an effort to get people out to enjoy the bicycle trails in the county.
Those who want to take the challenge can complete eight of a group of designated trails or road routes around the county, including Rush Pond Trail in Queensbury, Gurney Lane Mountain Bike Park, Warren County Bikeway or Ski Bowl Park in Johnsburg.
“Choose your route, ride at your own pace and enjoy the adventure!” the organization said in a news release.
Those who complete the challenge will get a certificate and window decal.
