WHITEHALL -- A Whitehall man was convicted of two misdemeanor charges Thursday after a three-day trial in Whitehall Village Court for having sexual contact with a 16-year-old girl.
Daniel T. LaRose, 58, was found guilty of forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stemmed from an arrest in April after an investigation by Whitehall Police and State Police into the teen’s complaint that he subjected her to unwanted sexual contact.
Police had advocated for a felony sexual abuse charge in the case last year, but the Washington County District Attorney’s Office at the time opted for misdemeanor forcible touching instead.
LaRose’s wife, Lynn M. LaRose, 57, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child because the teen alleged she witnessed part of the incident but did not stop it or call police. She is to stand trial in the coming months.
Daniel LaRose could face up to 2 years in Washington County Jail when sentenced later this month.
