QUEENSBURY -- The Wings of Freedom tour’s planned stop on Friday at the Warren County airport was canceled because of the morning’s gray weather.

Officials from the Collings Foundation said the B-17 Super Fortress, B-24 Liberator and P-51 were unable to take off from the Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport in time to stop at Queensbury. The planes went directly to a scheduled stop in Schenectady.

The planes had originally been scheduled to arrive Wednesday and stay through Friday morning, but were not able to get out of Rutland because of bad weather.

    Mj,

Thanks, you're right. Nice to see, as so many don't come close but are so absolutely self-assured otherwise in these threads. A shame weather intervened.

A shame too, that these priceless artifacts & the greatest of Americans who're also all but gone remain so underappreciated. W/out the worker-builders, the engineers & even more so those who sacrificed life & health to destroy evil fascism & militarism, the benefits we've since enjoyed could have been lost.

I fear today's threats are more real, & far more serious, & consuming than most begin to realize.

The B-17's nickname was not the "super fortress" It was the "flying fortress", the B-29 was the "super fortress."
