SOUTH GLENS FALLS — The annual South Glens Falls Holiday Parade has two new sponsors.

The South Glens Falls Fire Company and Carriage Traders have agreed to organize the event, which is approaching its 40th anniversary.

"The South Glens Falls Holiday Parade is an annual tradition for the entire community, and when members of the fire company heard that there were no sponsors, they jumped at the chance to keep this wonderful event alive," the fire company said in a news release. "After rumors made their way around town that the fire company was considering hosting the parade, Carriage Traders reached out to fire company members, pledging their support, and offering co-sponsorship."

The parade, initially started by the Joy Store in 1979, is held the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

The organizers are seeking additional volunteers. Any questions can be directed to the parade committee at parade@sgffire.org.

The Post-Star had sponsored it the last three years, taking over after Glens Falls National Bank opted to stop sponsoring it.
