The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said they are investigating a message posted to social media Tuesday night about a threat made to Hudson Falls Middle School.
The sheriff’s office shared a screenshot of the message which read: “i heard that there is going to be another shooting at hudson falls middle school repost on all social media to try and notify police and this is not a joke” (sic)
The sheriff’s office included a message with the posting assuring the public they are aware of the social media posting and are investigating the “unsubstantiated rumors.”
The sheriff’s office vowed to have significant law enforcement at the middle school on Wednesday located on Notre Dame Street in Kingsbury.
“We take any and all threats to school safety seriously and will work diligently to find the original source of this posting,” the sheriff’s office posted.
Hudson Falls Superintendent Linda J. Goewey posted a message on the school’s social media accounts Tuesday night confirming the rumor.
Goeway expressed complete cooperation with law enforcement with extra precautions being taken at the school on Wednesday.
“Keeping our students safe is our most important job. We are taking these reports very seriously and urge anyone with information to notify Washington County dispatch 518-747-4623,” Goeway wrote.
The threat coincides with mass walkouts planned at schools across the country on Wednesday.
