WARRENSBURG — Nettle Meadow Farm & Cheese Company's Kunik cheese is a finalist for the 2018 Good Food Awards.
Every year, the Good Food Foundation evaluates specialty foods in 15 categories, picks a selection of finalists in the fall and announces an overall winner during the West Coast Fancy Food Show week in January.
Owners and cheesemakers Lorraine Lambiase and Sheila Flanagan have previously received several awards over the last year. Kunik received a second place award at the American Cheese Society Contest this summer for triple crème bloomy rinds and has won first place in this category in earlier years along with a first place finish at the World Cheese Championships in 2016.
Kunik is a goat’s milk and cow cream triple crème trademarked by Nettle Meadow.
Nettle Meadow distributes its cheeses locally and nationally, and the farm is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cheese sales.
