FORT ANN -- The New York Lottery announced Monday that a winning Mega Millions ticket had been bought at the local Cumberland Farms.

Lottery spokeswoman Carolyn Haipman said the holder of the second-place ticket, valued at $250,000, has yet to come forward.

According to the state Lottery website, the chances of matching five balls for the $250,000 prize are 1 in 3.9 million.

I really think the Mega Millions needs to give more than $250k to matching 5 balls, if you get the mega ball you get millions but 5 out of 6 you only get $250k, come on NYS lotto its hard enough to match 5, how about you give a little more of your 50 billion dollar account to the people who really need it, the bottom 99% of Americans
The top 1% are doing fine

Here is an interesting business model...
3.9 million people give me a dollar...
I pick one "winner" to give $250,000 to...
If we really thought about the odds...
(Yea, I know they pay other prizes as well but still is it a sensible way to dispose of your 'spare' cash?)
Personally, I see no problem with "Dollar & A Dream"
BUT I see far too many people plunking down $20-$50 a week...
Then they complain about the price of milk going up 10 cents!
Of course they have to have a fix before their next Vegas trip!
Regardless... thumbs up to the winner! You beat the house!

I think what "reflections of" meant was the sale of lotto/lottery/and Racino sales are meant to go to education even though the sale of tickets is over the top education aid is being cut. Makes no sense unless those funds are being funneled into a differant use than "intended".

The State lottery must cough up what ever thier share is to education and highways....LMAO As for those of who pay very dear taxes in this village, town of Ft Ann you would agree this person should give no share to the school. If they are Smart they'll run as fast as they can outta here this FA towne Stinks all around...... "

From all appearances it seems that the school could use a little extra help....

The odds are 3.9 million to 1, yet the payoff is just $250,000.
Save your money and avoid this type of gambling.
You'd be better off betting horses, cards or sports.
