A pair of public hearings to gauge public opinion on how to best regulate the flow of invasives species in and out of Lake George will be held on May 21 and June 12.

The Lake George Park Commission last month sent three potential regulations to the public for review after nearly two years of debate and discussion.

The potential measures include; a lake-wide mandatory boat washing program, a voluntary boat-washing program with an educational focus at various launches, and a self-certification program, where boaters would pledge that their vessels are clean and dry.

The first public hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. on May 21 at the Fort William Henry Conference Center. The second hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 12 at the Best Western motel in Ticonderoga.

The entire Park Commission plan, with the available options, is available at www.lgpc.state.ny.us.
