GLENS FALLS -- The governor's Capital Region Economic Development Council will meet in Glens Falls on Friday.

The full council meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. at the Glens Falls Civic Center in Heritage Hall.

Shirley Jackson, president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Michael Castellana, president of SEFCU credit union, will lead the meeting.

The council is one of 10 across the state formed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to develop regional economic development strategies.

Glens Falls Mayor John "Jack" Diamond said he appreciates efforts to convene the council in various parts of the eight-county region.

"We are delighted that Glens Falls is hosting this meeting," he said in a statement.

Diamond will speak at the opening of the meeting.
