FORT ANN -- Two men have been arrested in connection with the theft of $5,500 worth of timber in Fort Ann, police said.
Keith H. Harris, 27, of Queensbury was charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony, and Thomas E. Harris, 46, of Whitehall was charged with misdemeanor conspiracy after an investigation by State Police, according to the agency's public information website.
The two are accused of taking timber from a piece of property where their company, Harris Logging, did not have permission to cut timber, court records show.
The theft happened in August, and the landowner learned of it last month when he drove by the property and saw that it had been heavily cut, records show.
Both men were released pending prosecution in Fort Ann Town Court.
