WARRENSBURG — A Warrensburg High School student was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly choked a fellow student unconscious in school, police said.
Kyle M. Boland, 18, of Warrensburg, was charged with felony strangulation for an incident that caused the 17-year-old victim to lapse into unconsciousness, fall and strike his head, according to the Warren County Sheriff's Office. Boland attacked him from behind, putting him in a chokehold as he sat at a table, police said.
Police said the victim regained consciousness and was scheduled to receive a medical evaluation later Wednesday. There was surveillance video of the incident, and sheriff's Lt. Steve Stockdale said the two had a prior dispute that apparently motivated the attack.
Boland was arraigned in Warrensburg Town Court and released on his own recognizance, with an order of protection issued for the victim.
Sheriff's Patrol Officer Shaun Stillman and Investigator Russ Lail handled the case.
