NORTH HUDSON — A downstate man was arrested last week after he was caught using a cellphone to videotape men in the bathroom of a Northway rest area, police said.
Azarias H. Perez-Soriano, 23, of Far Rockaway, was charged with five counts of unlawful surveillance, a felony, after an investigation by State Police into a March 4 complaint about a man recording people at the High Peaks Rest Area on the southbound side of the highway.
Police located Perez-Soriano and found that he had surreptitiously used a phone to record men in the bathroom.
He was arraigned and freed on $2,000 cash bail.
The charges are punishable by up to 4 years in state prison.
