QUEENSBURY -- A Warrensburg man who injured a police officer last summer has been sentenced to 3 years in state prison and 3 years on parole.
Billy L. Nail, 34, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault last November in connection with an incident that left a state trooper with unspecified injuries, authorities said. Under state law, it is automatically a felony to injure a police officer.
Troopers had responded to a home for a reported "domestic dispute," and Nail was charged with numerous misdemeanors in addition to the felony count.
He was sentenced last fall to 6 months in Warren County Jail and 5 years on probation, but was found to have violated probation.
Warren County Judge John Hall imposed sentence after finding that Nail did not abide by the terms of probation
