BALLSTON SPA — A Hadley man who was arrested last year for possessing child pornography has pleaded guilty to a felony charge.

Edward J. Eagan, 57, of Third Avenue, was arrested last Nov. 30 after an investigation by the State Police Computer Crimes Unit and troopers from the Wilton station, officials said.

He was charged with counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and promoting a sexual performance by a child in connection with child pornography he downloaded over the Internet, police said.

Eagan pleaded guilty Thursday to a felony count of promoting a sexual performance by a child and is free pending sentencing Jan. 17 by Saratoga County Judge James Murphy. The charge is punishable by up to 7 years in state prison.
