GLENS FALLS — A Glens Falls man was jailed Wednesday on a felony charge for allegedly violating a no-contact order of protection, police said.
Daryl R. Belanger, 47, of Marion Avenue, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt for having contact with a person who has an order of protection against him, according to Glens Falls Police.
He was charged after Glens Falls Police Officer Chris Perrilli saw him at Cumberland Farms on Bay Street in the presence of the protected person, and knew there was an order of protection barring that contact, police said.
The criminal contempt charge was elevated to a felony because Belanger was convicted of misdemeanor criminal contempt last July, police said.
Belanger was arraigned and sent to Warren County Jail for lack of bail.
