FORT EDWARD — A Vermont man who was arrested in September for possessing heroin with intent to distribute during a traffic stop in Fort Ann has pleaded guilty to a felony charge.
Benjamin O. Broughton, 37, of Bristol, Vermont, pleaded guilty in connection with the seizure of 100 packets of heroin and an unspecified amount of cocaine during the bust on Route 149 by State Police. He was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for traffic violations.
Broughton, who has a history of drug offenses in Vermont, likely faces 3 years in state prison and 2 years on parole when sentenced Dec. 15 by Washington County Judge Kelly McKeighan.
Charges are still pending against the driver of the car, Brian M. Davidson, 35, of New Haven, Vermont. Police said he was found to be driving under the influence of drugs.
