SARATOGA SPRINGS -- A paper fire Tuesday morning drew fire crews to the city's Quad/Graphics plant but did not affect business operations.

Dan Frankowski, the plant's director, said a recycling unit jammed and caught fire around 10:50 a.m. The company's own emergency responders put water on the fire and summoned the city Fire Department, he said.

Employees of the company could be seen sweeping water from fire hoses out of garage doors at the plant. Light smoke escaped the building, but no fire could be seen.

Frankowski called the fire "moderate" and said it did not affect the plant's production.

Based in Wisconsin, Quad/Graphics is among the world's largest printing companies. It employs about 800 people at its plant in the W.J. Grande Technology Park off of Geyser Road in Saratoga Springs.
