Editor's Note: The name of the congresswoman from Guam was incorrect in the first version. It has been corrected.

U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson, R-Kinderhook, is traveling overseas this week with a congressional delegation visiting troops and meeting with military leaders, his office announced Thursday.

The delegation left Iraq on Thursday and was traveling to an unspecified other foreign country.

The locations and itinerary for the remainder of the trip were not being released to protect security, said Stephanie Valle, the congressman's spokeswoman.

Gibson, a freshman House member, serves on the House Armed Services Committee.

Traveling in the delegation with Gibson are Reps. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., Madeleine Bordallo, D-Guam, and Mo Brooks, R-Ala.

Congressional visits to the troops have been fairly common over the past decade.

Former local Reps. Scott Murphy, Kirsten Gillibrand and John Sweeney each traveled to either Iraq or Afghanistan, or both, while in office.

I know that Chris Gibson will know just what to do if he incurs the "SNIPER FIRE" that Hillary supposedly ran into in one of her trips.

Shouldn't the headline read, "U.S. Rep. Gibson flys halfway around the world at the public's expense to visit Iraq as part of Conrgressional delegation and have his picture taken with some troops"? Good thing we're not having a budget crisis - otherwise this would be just another example of wasteful spending. He wouldn't do that just for a reelection photo op, would he? Nah...

Chris, when you go there...do Americans workers a favor and stay there...that way you won't be voting for disgusting legislation attacking the workers of this country, all the while lining the pockets of the rich. At least now it's becoming clear even to the dumbest of Americans that this is what the GOP and Tea Party are all about...Rich get the gold, American middle class gets the shaft!

I want to thank Mr Gibson for his visit to Afghanistan, he had lunch with my husband while there. Many of you may complain, but for those of us with loved ones in harms way, I thank him for caring. It seems a small enough expense to thank our Soldiers for what they are giving up for all of you. I am not complaining, it may be lonely without my husband but I am doing my part to support him by not complaining and handling business while he is away. For those of you who complain, I hope your loved ones are never over there, but if they are, may someone care enough to take the time to have a meal with them and let them know they are not forgotten.

Heres an idea, instead of our so called representatives, senators or any other government officials going to Iraq or any foreign country to visit our troops, and I dont know but this may sound crazy on my part, but how about bringing our and i mean all not just some of our troops back to the country they belong in, The United States of America.I just had a second idea and this is crazy to, how about we send all the people who are running this country,in my opinion, into the ground over there to fight and let some of the businessmen who have been sucessful at running their own companies run this country and straighten it out.
