Moreau Councilman Theodore "Todd" Kusnierz has formally endorsed Teresa Sayward in the race for the Assembly seat being vacated by Elizabeth Little, R-Queensbury, Sayward's campaign announced.

Kusnierz finished third in last month's three-way primary for the Republican nomination in the race for an open seat in the new 113th Assembly district.

Sayward, the town supervisor in Willsboro, won the primary by a narrow margin.

Former Moriah Supervisor Thomas Scozzafava finished second, and is running in the general election on the Conservative Party line.

Contacted Wednesday, Kusnierz said he had previously said he would support whoever won the Republican primary.

"Teresa called and asked for my support, and I followed up with my previous commitment," he said.

Kusnierz said he does not plan to campaign on Sayward's behalf.

In a prepared statement, Sayward said she is "thankful for Todd's support and the growing grassroots support" her campaign is gaining.
