Saratoga Springs Police Department is looking for a possible witness in a fire Tuesday at 28 Jefferson Terrace that was deemed suspicious.

Saratoga Springs Fire and Police departments were called to a reported structure fire around 4:30 p.m. The units observed heavy smoke and fire in apartment C-3.

The fire was knocked down within five minutes, officials said. There was no one home and no injuries reported.

Police began interviewing neighbors and called the fire, which caused extensive damage to the unit, suspicious.

The Saratoga Springs Police Department Criminal Investigation Unit is looking for a light-skinned black man between the ages of 16 and 18, who was reportedly seen in the area as firefighters arrived. He is considered a possible witness, officials said.

Saratoga Springs Police and Fire Investigation Unit were on scene late Tuesday evening.

Anyone with information about the teenager should contact the police department at 584-1800 or 584-TIPS.
