SHAFTSBURY, Vt. -- Three Cambridge residents have been charged in connection with a 2008 home burglary in western Vermont in which a safe containing $24,000 was stolen, police said.

The three were charged after Vermont State Police developed new information earlier this year that led them to suspect the three were involved in the Nov. 24, 2008 theft, officials said. The safe was transported to Cambridge and destroyed so it could be entered, police said.

Charged with felony burglary were Trenton McCray, 24; Kristy Morse, 24, and Tiffany Thurston, 24, according to Vermont State Police.

Arrest warrants have been issued for McCray and Morse, while Thurston -- who police believe drove the other two suspects to the home but did not go in -- was arrested and released, pending prosecution in Bennington Criminal Court.
