GLENS FALLS -- A South Glens Falls woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after she drove into a utility pole early Friday, knocking out power to a number of Glens Falls homes and businesses, police said.
Amber M. Carter, 24, of Ferry Boulevard was arrested shortly after the 1:09 a.m. crash on Hudson Avenue, Glens Falls Police Detective Sgt. John Winchell said.
Carter allegedly drove off the street near the U.S. Post Office, taking down a pole but not suffering any injuries, police said. National Grid customers in the area lost power for a short time, but their service had been restored as of 6 a.m. Friday.
Carter was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.11 percent, above the 0.08 percent threshold for DWI, Winchell said. She was charged with misdemeanor DWI and ticketed with failing to maintain her lane.
She was released pending prosecution in Glens Falls City Court. Glens Falls Police Officer Andy Mija made the arrest.
