SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Registration is under way for parents who want to enroll their children in pre-kindergarten in the South Glens Falls Central School District.
The program can accommodate 108 students for the 2013-14 school year and will be housed at the Day Nursery School in South Glens Falls.
A lottery will be used to select children for the program. Parents need a lottery ticket to register, which can be picked up at any of the district’s four elementary schools or printed off the district’s website or at umcdaynursery.com.
Any child who will turn 4 on or before Dec. 1 and is a resident of the district is eligible for the free half-day program, which has both morning and afternoon classes and bussing within the district. The lottery will take place April 10.
Eligibility is not based on household income; the program is paid for with a state grant.
For more information, call Niki Baker, director of the district’s universal pre-kindergarten program, at 743-1847.
A parent information night is slated for 7 p.m. on March 26 at the Day Nursery School, 15 Maplewood Parkway in South Glens Falls. It will be an opportunity for parents or guardians to tour the facility and meet the staff.
