NEWCOMB and QUEENSBURY, N.Y. — Raymond J. Murdie, 76, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, at Stanton Nursing Home.

Ray was born Nov. 16, 1936, in Ogdensburg, N.Y., to Jennie and Raymond Murdie.

He moved to Tahawus at age 9 and lived in his beloved Adirondacks the rest of his life, spending many hours fishing and hunting.

Ray was a barber, assistant caretaker at Lake Harris Campsite and operated a bed and breakfast. He worked various jobs for the town of Newcomb such as driving senior citizens to doctors appointments.

Ray is survived by his wife of 18 years, Judy Phelps Murdie; his brother, Lee (Gloria);

and nieces, Dawn (James) Van Cour and Pam Murdie; nephew, Jeff Murdie and two great-nieces.

Ray donated his body to Anatomical Gift Program at Albany Medical College.

Memorial and burial services will be at a later date.

Donations in Ray’s memory to Newcomb Volunteer Fire Company, Newcomb, NY 12852, would be appreciated.
