GLENS FALLS — Leona Renaud Missita, 76, of LaRose Gardens, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on Feb. 16, 1934, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Matilda "Tootsie" (Phillips) Renaud Sr.

Leona attended Glens Falls School and in 1991 she received her GED. While raising her nine children she had several jobs including the Glens Falls Hospital, J&J Lingerie, General Electric Co., in Fort Edward, the Glens Falls YMCA and the New Way Lunch on South Street in Glens Falls.

Leona loved to spend time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends and trying her luck on scratch-off tickets and the lottery. She loved going to the Daily Double for a beer and a few laughs with friends.

In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was predeceased by her two husbands, Donald Springer and Anthony J. Missita Sr.; her three brothers: Thomas Renaud, Richard Renaud and Leon Renaud; her two sisters, Hazel Renaud and Virginia Renaud, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors include her two sons, Anthony Missita Jr. and his wife, Joann, of Glens Falls and George Missita and his wife, Gayle, of Tenn.; her seven daughters: Bonnie Willett and her husband, Robert, of Corinth, Bernadette Missita of Pa., Antoinette LeBron and her husband, David, of Watervliet, Jane Bertrand and her husband, Frank, of Ore., Hazel Palmer and her husband, Clement, of Glens Falls, Angela LaMay and her husband, Terry, of Glens Falls and Dorothea Clifford of Glens Falls; her sister, Shirley Renaud of Ticonderoga; her brothers, Cemile Renaud and his wife, Grace, of Queensbury and Gary Renaud and his wife, Nadell, of Fla.; her former husband and best friend, Henry Chabot of Glens Falls; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; her dear friends: Madaline Drellos, Connie Bancroft, Ester Lyke; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, at the Carleton Funeral Home Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.

Prayers will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Leona's family would like to thank Jo Marie, RN, Rhonda Schuyler, LPN, Donnas Dorvee, Home Health Aide, Dr. Coppins and the Staff at the Glens Falls Hospital, for the wonderful care and compassion given to Leona and her family.

    To the Family; I'm sorry for your loss. I remember leona from when she took care of my mom a long time ago. She was the best. she took good care of my mom. What a great lady she was. God Bless Leona!
