QUEENSBURY — June Harris Boor, retired Queensbury teacher and quilter, died peacefully on March 7, 2018 at the Home of the Good Shepard in Wilton. Daughter of Sidney and Gertrude Harris, June was born on July 12, 1925 in New York City. She is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Boor of Scottsdale, Arizona, Stephen Boor of Cambridge, Massachusetts and Philip Boor of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and three grandchildren, Sonia Boor, Matthew Boor and Ryan James. She is predeceased by her son, Roger; and husband, John.
June held a bachelor’s degree in business administration from City College of New York and a master’s degree in education from New York State University in Oneonta. She also attended the New York School of Interior Design. June taught second grade and Kindergarten for 22 years at Queensbury School. Upon retirement from teaching, June opened a hand quilting business and traveled across the country, taking orders for and selling quilts. She retired from quilting in the late 1990s, when quilts were being made by machine. In addition to quilting, June enjoyed playing bridge, watching movies and being with her family.
A celebration of life reception will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 16, at The Glen at Hiland Meadows, 39 Longwood Drive, Queensbury. In keeping with June’s wishes, funeral services and burial will be private.
