GRANVILLE - John Michael Nimchek Jr., 44, of Granville, N.Y., died unexpectedly on Sept. 1, 2011, at work.

Born Feb. 2, 1967, in Bristol, Conn., he was the son of Carolyn (Miller) and Eugene Morneault and John M. Nimchek, Sr. and wife, Mae.

He attended Salem Central School and graduated from Freeport High School in Freeport, Maine.

John was employed by the Equinox Resort in Manchester, Vt. as the head painter. He had worked there for 10 years.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and all nature. He spent his yearly vacations in the woods waiting for "The Big One."

Along with his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Jessica Nimchek; his fiance, Tracy Rupe; four siblings and their families, Kim (Ed) Griffin, Dawn (Tony) Condon, Nadine White Eagle and Frank (Sandy) Jones and his beloved "Fat Cat."

John will be missed by many and remembered for his warm smile and willingness to help anyone in need.

Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 W. Main St., Cambridge, N.Y., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Father Jim Lawrence will conduct a funeral service beginning at 2 p.m.

A private burial will take place at a later time.

    We all miss him so much. He was like an uncle to me and I miss him more than anyone will ever know ever. We miss and love you John Michael Nimchek always and forever.
