GLENS FALLS — Joan M. Lindsey, 81, of South Delaware Avenue, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Albany Medical Center, following a short illness.
Born on March 7, 1936 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Harold Sr. and Nellie (Cheney) Champagne.
Joan attended Hadley-Luzerne High School.
She married Harold Lindsey on March 28, 1959, and the couple resided in Lake Luzerne for many years. He passed away Jan. 8, 1979 following 19 years of marriage. She then lived for 35 years with her longtime companion, Robert Winslow. He passed away Sept. 21, 2014.
Joan was first employed as a seamstress at the Cluett-Peabody Shirt Factory in Corinth and then worked at Capital District DDSO Dayhab Program on Sherman Avenue in Queensbury for several years. She also delivered meals with the Meals-On-Wheels program in Glens Falls.
She enjoyed holidays with her family, home decorating, watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, woodworking, arranging flowers, ceramics, secondhand stores and concerts.
Besides her husband, Harold Lindsey; her parents; and her longtime companion, Robert Winslow, Joan was also predeceased by her siblings, Harold Champagne, Jr. and Gerald Champagne, Mildred Most and Shirley Meade.
Survivors include one son, Roger E. Lindsey (Debi) of Dayton, Maine; one sister, Jean (Champagne) Jackson of Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave. Corinth, with Lane Schermerhorn officiating.
Spring burial will be at Corinth Rural Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
