NORTH CREEK — Grace (Wescott) Allen, 88, of Lane Road, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 12, 2017, at her home, following a short illness.
Born Jan. 25, 1929 in Poultney, Vermont, she was the youngest daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Morehouse) Wescott. She was the last survivor of 16 children.
She was raised in Thurman, by Henry and Bertha Wescott. Grace was a resident of North Creek for 54 years until her passing.
On Jan. 27, 1947, she married Keith Allen at Bakers Mills Wesleyan Methodist Church, the same church where they had met.
For 42 years, Grace was an Avon representative. She enjoyed baking, gabbing with friends and family, knitting and crocheting, and her beloved furry friends.
In addition to her parents, Grace was predeceased by her beloved husband, Keith Allen in 2014, and a daughter-in-law, Lois Allen, and all 15 of her siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Sharon Simmes of Schenectady and Sherry (Steve) Davison of Wevertown; three sons, Sterling (Cherise) Allen of Winthrope, New York, Stacey (Holly) Allen of Burtonville, New York., and Shawn (Helen) Allen of North Creek; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 15 at Sodom Community Church, Sodom Cross Road, Johnsburg.
A funeral service will follow at noon at the church with the Rev. Ronald Allen, pastor and nephew to Grace, officiating.
Interment at Bates Cemetery on Goodman Road in Johnsburg will follow the services.
Family and friends are invited back to Sodom Community Church for a gathering of food and fellowship.
