WEST RUPERT, Vt. — Elbert O. Farrar, 92, of West Rupert, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 at Mountain View Center in Rutland, Vermont.
Born Nov. 29, 1925 in West Rupert, he was the son of the late Everett and Anna (Lourie) Farrar. Elbert attended the Rupert School and also Salem Washington Academy.
Elbert was a lifelong dairy farmer and operated the family dairy farm in West Rupert until he retired in 1987.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in West Rupert and was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper and a pilot. Elbert had his pilot’s license for over 50 years. He was a member of the Vermont Flying Farmers Organization and a 58 year member of the Rupert Vol. Fire Dept.
In addition to his parents, Elbert was predeceased by his wife of nearly 50 years, Abbie Hanna Farrar who passed away April 27, 2006; and two cousins, Sheldon Wright and Virginia Cadoret Seils.
He is survived by his cousins, Winifred Pillsbury and family, Carl Seils and family, Bobby, Tom, Donna Wright and families, Anna Lourie Jones, Frances Lourie Campbell, Arthur Lourie, Donald Lourie, Robert Lourie, Evan Lourie, Thomas Lourie, Stanley Lourie and Marion Lourie Sheldon.
A calling hour will be from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Church of Christ, West Rupert, Vermont. A service will begin at noon with Pastor Paul Mychack officiating. Interment will be at the Rupert Cemetery.
