    Rest in peace dear friend,
God granted you a great intellect which you chose to develop into those extraordinary talents and abilities to healed and transform and repair and extend the gift of life to many, many people that were fortunate to cross your path in their time of need. I was fortunate to know you in friendship and you were always the healer, the Doctor.
Ever the single minded demanding perfectionist you saw everything to an amazing level detail. Over the many decades of your full life untold great things happened under the demands of the Dr. Mack command and control system. I had the opportunity to assist you with a few routine home front missions and everything was always done under your specifications. It was good to make the cut be called back on more than one mission. The inattentive under your command were but snowflakes in the Caribbean sun.
With your passing another of the greatest generation with that can do, get it done mindset leaves this world but we who knew you will always remember you and we are better for having shared some of life with a man so full of purpose, integrity, generosity, grace and life as you.

My sincere sympathy and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Proud Nurse accurately described the Dr. DePan I had the pleasure of becoming acquainted with. A more competent, brilliant, compassionate surgeon is yet to grace this earth. May memories of the happy times you shared help to bring peace to your aching hearts.

Dr. DePan- How hollow are these halls without you flying through them... with labcoat askew and hair unkempt..old scuffed shoes spotted with dried blood, silent badges of lives touched by your skilled hands... hands gnarled from time and years of countless scrubbings... hands never too busy for a reassuring touch for a frightened soul...a face weary and creased from too many sleepless nights...eyes that could flash with intolerance at delays...or eyes that could sparkle with humor...how many meals eaten 'on the fly' as you swiped a patients' dessert with a mischievous grin and,"you're fat enough" as you hurriedly licked the spoon clean and sailed out the door...how many sunrises did you greet after hours spent on your feet to save a life...How many lives did you make better with your gifted hands and brilliant mind...Doc,the mold surely was broken when you came along.. Heaven will be a better place and your spirit will fly thru these halls forever...A Most Grateful Nurse xoxoxo

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember Dr DePan as a wonderful, caring man. It's because of his excellent care that I have the use of my legs.
May he rest in perpetual peace, and may God hold him in the palm of His hand.
