CHESTERTOWN — Alice Dahlia Jensen, 92, passed away Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, George Jensen; her sister, Jean Gorman; her daughter, Joan Jensen; and many loving nieces and nephews and their children.
Born on March 4, 1925 and raised on Staten Island, New York, she was the daughter of Louis and Clara Schweiger, one of 11 children. She attended McKee High School, where she studied dress making and tailoring. After he returned from serving in World War II, she married her husband, George, and lived on Lighthouse Hill on Staten Island, in the home they built.
An avid golfer, she was a member of the Silvettes Staten Island Ladies Golf Club. She was also a dedicated Campfire Girl Leader while raising her family. Alice worked for Dr. Clinton Olsen, managing his dental practice in the Stock Exchange Building for 33 years.
She was a longtime resident of Chestertown, where she and her husband retired. Alice was a member of the Pine Needles quilting club and Green Mansions Ladies League. She was a wonderful cook; her family has many fond memories of wonderful meals and desserts, especially her famous tea tarts. Above all, she loved her family and her home.
