GLENS FALLS — When Mike O’Sullivan graduated from Villanova University, he aspired to a career in advertising.

“I thought I would end up on Madison Avenue, and it never happened,” he said.

O’Sullivan took a job out of college in the advertising department of The Maryland Gazette and discovered that newspaper advertising was his passion.

More than three decades later, O’Sullivan is continuing in the career field as new advertising director at The Post-Star.

The Post-Star has always been an excellent, award-winning newspaper. And the Glens Falls area continues to grow and change,” he said.

Post-Star Publisher Robert Forcey said O’Sullivan “brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help us to complement an already outstanding team.

“We are happy to welcome Mike to our team and look forward to him helping us do an even better job of serving our community,” Forcey said.

O’Sullivan said his goal as he starts his new position is to increase awareness that The Post-Star, with both print and digital products, is steadility increasing its readership.

“People don’t realize there are tens of thousands of more people reading the content of our newspaper than there ever was in the past,” he said.

O’Sullivan’s most recent newspaper industry position was as publisher of The Saratogian and The Troy Record.

After that, he was president of the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce.

In his spare time, O’Sullivan, who lives in Wilton, said he enjoys spending time with his family and he is “a huge sports fan.”
